As part of its expansion in the United States for this summer season, Lufthansa began nonstop flights between Frankfurt and Minneapolis/St. Paul, competing with leisure airline Condor in this segment. The German airline last week inaugurated its Munich-Seattle route and will soon begin its Frankfurt-Raleigh/Durham nonstop service.

On June 4, flight LH 482 was operated by a Boeing 787 registered as D-ABPB and christened “Wiesbaden”. The aircraft took off from Frankfurt Airport at 11:39 local time and landed at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Aeroṕuerto at 13:20, after eight hours and 41 minutes.

Lufthansa is the 19th airline to serve Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. Seat capacity to Europe from Minneapolis/St. Paul is up 28% year-over-year and 14% to 2019 levels, reaching historic levels.

In addition to the new Lufthansa service, airlines offering European service at Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport include Delta Air Lines to Amsterdam, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, London-Heathrow, Dublin and Reykjavik; Air France from Paris-Charles de Gaulle; KLM from Amsterdam; Aer Lingus from Dublin; Condor from Frankfurt; and Icelandair from Reykjavik.
