The Spanish airline Wamos Air formalized its integration into the Abra Group, which also includes Avianca and GOL, consolidating a combined fleet of more than 300 aircraft and a team of nearly 30,000 people. This incorporation, following the agreement reached in May and after obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals, strengthens the group’s positioning in the markets of the Americas and Europe.
According to the Abra Group, Wamos Air will continue to operate independently, maintaining its brand, culture, and leadership as it has done for more than 21 years, but now benefiting from the efficiencies and investments brought by its new affiliation.
“We are very pleased to announce that the strategic investment in Wamos Air is a reality. This aligns with our consolidation strategy, which aims to bring together iconic companies to connect Latin America with the world more efficiently, reliably, and sustainably,” said Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra Group.
“We are extremely proud to say that, as of today, we are part of the Abra Group. This marks the beginning of a new phase that will allow us to pursue new business strategies and growth while maintaining the essence of our business, flying for the world’s most important airlines,” added Enrique Saiz, CEO of Wamos Air.
Headquartered in Madrid, Wamos Air has been a key player in the wet lease market, flying for many airlines in the region.
The Abra Group has established itself as one of the most important aviation conglomerates in Latin America, bringing together the iconic brands Avianca, GOL, and now Wamos Air. With an airline network that operates in more than 25 countries and 130 destinations, the group highlights that they have some of the lowest unit costs in their respective markets, as well as leading loyalty programs such as LifeMiles and Smiles.
For its part, Wamos Air, founded in 2003, has distinguished itself as a key partner for international airlines like Air Europa, Avianca, and Iberia, among others, operating in over 200 airports and transporting more than three million passengers in the last year. Its fleet consists of four Airbus A330-200s and six A330-300s.
