KLM Cityhopper Adds Two Embraer E195-E2s: Latest Fleet Update

KLM Cityhopper received two consecutive Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, reaching a total of 20 units of the second generation of Brazilian jets in its fleet. The aircraft registered as PH-NXT landed at Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport on Friday, November 22.

Typically, Embraer delivers aircraft in alphabetical order according to their registration, but a delay in the production process of the Embraer E195-E2 PH-NXU, which was supposed to be the 20th in the fleet, meant it arrived a week earlier to KLM than its sibling, the PH-NXT.

According to our associated site AEROIN, both aircraft departed from Embraer’s facilities in São José dos Campos bound for Amsterdam, making two technical stops in Recife and Tenerife. The aircraft joining the KLM Cityhopper fleet are leased from Aircastle.

With this recent addition, KLM Cityhopper is still awaiting the delivery of the remaining five aircraft to complete the order of 25 Embraer E195-E2, with an option to purchase ten additional units. Furthermore, the airline is already considering placing an additional order, which also includes the smaller E190-E2.

The E195-E2 has a capacity of 132 passengers, representing 32% more seats compared to its predecessors, the Embraer E190-E1, which will be gradually replaced by the E2. The close relationship between KLM and Embraer dates back to 2007, when the Dutch company received the first of 65 E-jets ordered from the Brazilian manufacturer.
