Aena has once again been recognized in the highest evaluation category of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for its commitment to combating climate change. According to the company, this is the third consecutive year it has received this rating, placing it above the European and airport sector average.
CDP Evaluation and Criteria
CDP, a non-profit organization that collects and analyzes environmental data from companies and cities worldwide, awarded Aena an A- rating in its 2025 report. This score is based on transparency, the comprehensiveness of disclosed information, risk and opportunity assessments related to climate change, emission reduction strategies, and sustainability achievements.
According to CDP, ratings range from A (highest) to D (lowest), allowing comparisons between companies within the same sector or region. In its latest analysis, CDP evaluated 24,800 companies and 1,100 cities worldwide.
Commitment to Net Zero
Aena highlights that its recognition in the CDP index aligns with its Sustainability Strategy, which includes its Climate Action Plan. This plan outlines measures to reduce emissions both within its operations and across third-party activities at its airports.
As part of its climate strategy, Aena has brought forward its net-zero emissions target to 2030, two decades ahead of the global industry commitment. As an intermediate step, the company aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2026 through decarbonization initiatives across its airport network.
Additionally, Aena participates in other sustainability initiatives, including the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, the S&P Global Dow Jones Index, and Sustainalytics’ assessments, reinforcing its leadership in environmental management and emissions reduction.
