Air India's Airbus A350 has a capacity of 316 seats across three classes: 28 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 264 in Economy.
Air India has introduced the Airbus A350-900 on the Delhi-Newark route, replacing the Boeing 777-300ER. This marks the second North American connection served by this advanced aircraft model. The airline's A350 also operates on the Delhi-New York JFK route, launched on November 1, 2024, as well as the Delhi-London Heathrow route and select domestic services.
Flight AI 105, operated by an Airbus A350-900 registered as VT-JRH, departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport at 02:42 local time on January 2 and landed at Newark Liberty International Airport at 06:48 after a flight duration of 14 hours and 35 minutes. With this addition, Air India now operates the A350 at two airports in the New York metropolitan area.
The Airbus A350 features 316 seats in a three-class configuration: 28 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout with fully flat beds, sliding doors, and direct aisle access; 24 Premium Economy seats; and 264 Economy seats. The airline is awaiting delivery of 19 A350-900s and 20 A350-1000s to further enhance its long-haul capabilities.
Air India is committed to improving the customer experience. Alongside deploying new cabins on its A350s, the airline is modernizing the interiors of its Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner fleets. Updates will include new First Class and Business Class products. Additionally, the airline plans to launch new destinations in the United States, including Los Angeles, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Seattle.
