The Airline Pilots Association (APLA), representing the Aeronautical Unions, has warned about delays in reopening collective bargaining negotiations with Aerolíneas Argentinas and Optar. The unions also anticipated the possibility of a new conflict if the situation remains unresolved.
Sources from Aerolíneas Argentinas stated, “The scheduled meeting date is February 4,” adding that they consider this timeframe reasonable, given the date on which the previous agreement was concluded.
APLA shared the pilots' concerns in a statement on their social network X account. The unions explained that “in response to their request to reopen collective bargaining negotiations to update salaries, as stipulated in the previous agreement, the companies have informed us that there will be no reopening of negotiations in the near future. They plan to summon workers' representatives only in February.”
“The management of Aerolíneas Argentinas and Optar has again undermined trust and good faith between the parties, forcing us toward a new conflict—a situation we recently experienced and whose consequences are well known. We aim to avoid this path, but it is evident the company is inclined to provoke conflict,” the statement added.
The unions further emphasized that “workers have consistently demonstrated good faith and commitment, as evidenced by the record number of passengers transported during the summer season. These results reflect exceptional trust and responsibility.”
The statement concluded by urging the companies to act promptly: “By failing to comply with the agreement, the company shows total disregard for workers. We demand no further delays and immediate engagement in salary negotiations"
