Azul and euroAtlantic partner for flight operations between São Paulo and Lisbon
Azul announced a strategic collaboration with euroAtlantic Airways, a Portuguese airline specializing in charter flights and crewed leasing services.
Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras expands its route network and consolidates its position in the global market thanks to a series of strategic alliances with key players in the aviation industry.
According to information provided by our media partner Aeroin, on January 6, 2025, euroAtlantic announced the signing of a strategic agreement with Azul to meet the growing demand for flights between Brazil and Portugal.
The two companies will cooperate to connect Viracopos Airport in São Paulo with Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon. With operations launched in December 2024, the partnership includes long-haul aircraft in service and the possibility of increasing the fleet in 2025 if demand continues to rise.
According to Stewart Higginson, CEO of euroAtlantic Airways, this collaboration represents a key bridge between the two countries. "We are excited to offer the quality and safety that Azul passengers expect while strengthening cultural and commercial ties between Brazil and Portugal," he highlighted.
Expansion of global connectivity
In addition to the partnership with euroAtlantic, Azul is forging significant alliances that strengthen its international presence:
United Airlines: Since 2015, United has held a 5% stake in Azul, facilitating route sharing through codeshare agreements and improving connectivity between Brazil and the United States.
ITA Airways: The agreement signed in 2022 allows passengers to travel easily between Brazil and Italy, connecting the destinations of both airlines.
Emirates: The partnership, in effect since 2021, expands options for passengers traveling between Brazil, the Middle East, and over 150 destinations served by Emirates.
Euroairlines Group: In 2024, Azul partnered with this Spanish group to expand its global network through interline agreements, enabling its passengers to access over 160 international routes.
In the domestic market, Azul and GOL Linhas Aéreas signed a codeshare agreement in 2024 covering complementary routes within Brazil. This agreement enhances domestic connectivity, maximizes passenger options, and strengthens the position of both airlines in the competitive Brazilian market.
