At 5:58 (local time) on September 3rd, EgyptAir conducted its historic first charter flight between Cairo (CAI), Egypt, and São Paulo (Guarulhos), Brazil. This milestone marks the first foray of the Egyptian state airline into South America.
According to information from our associated media <a href="https://aeroin.net/aterrissa-no-brasil-o-voo-inaugural-da-egyptair-assista-ao-pouso-do-boeing-787-9-egipcio/">Aeroin</a>, the inaugural flight was operated by the Boeing 787-9 with registration SU-GET, an aircraft that has a capacity for 309 passengers, with 30 seats in business class and 279 in economy class. According to data provided by the tourism authorities and the marketing agency Egypt Flight (Master Flights), the first scheduled flights maintain an occupancy rate between 68% and 71%.
The travel agency has also announced that a total of 17 flights will be conducted between September and April 2024, allowing travelers to access travel packages of 13 to 15 days, with a deal that includes a total of 4,944 seats.

The success of this initiative in terms of passenger occupancy could pave the way for the operations to become regular. Additionally, there has been mention of the possibility of EgyptAir expanding its horizons to Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE), Argentina, with a stopover in São Paulo.
<h2>EgyptAir Aims to Turn Cairo into a Major Hub</h2>
EgyptAir is strategically building a global hub leveraging the privileged geographical location of Cairo (CAI). However, this expansion has faced delays due to security concerns stemming from terrorism, the events of the Arab Spring, and the COVID-19 health crisis, which affected air traffic in Egypt.
Historically, EgyptAir has primarily focused on connecting Egypt with major cities that host significant Egyptian ethnic communities. Now, the airline aims to boost tourism in the region and compete with other Arab airlines.
Compared to its routes in 2019, the company added destinations such as Dhaka (DAC), Doha (DOH), Dublin (DUB), Düsseldorf (DUS), Kinshasa (FIH), Manchester (MAN), Moroni (HAH), <a href="http://aviacionline.com/2023/04/egyptair-tendra-vuelos-entre-el-cairo-y-newark/">Newark (EWR)</a> and Tel Aviv (TLV).

Regarding its fleet, EgyptAir is undergoing a renovation process that involves replacing Embraer 175, Airbus A320/A321ceo, and Boeing 777-200ER aircraft with A220-300, A320neo, A321neo, and Boeing 787-9 models.

Cairo – Sao Paulo: EgyptAir’s first charter flight to South America arrives in Brazil

For the first time in its history, EasyJet will operate regular flights to Cairo, Egypt, which will be its 157th destination.
The inaugural flight is scheduled for the upcoming 31st of October, and initially, the low-cost airline will operate three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from London-Luton airport.

EasyJet already has a presence in Africa with flights to Agadir, Hurgada, Enfidha, Marrakech, and Sharm el-Sheikh from various European bases like London-Luton, London-Gatwick, Manchester, Basel, Bristol, Geneva, Bristol, Milan, and Paris-CDG.

Condor resumes operations in Berlin (BER) and Cologne (CGN) for the 2023/2024 winter season: the airline will permanently base two Airbus A320/A320neo at Brandenburg Airport (BER).
The airline will strengthen the offering of leisure destinations from its bases in Germany and Austria to offer its customers more travel options for their vacations. For the first time, the company will have scheduled flights in Vienna (VIE) and Nuremberg (NUE) during the northern winter.

<a href="https://www.egyptair.com/en/Pages/HomePage.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EgyptAir</a> took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo through a lease agreement with AerCap, becoming the first operator of the type in Africa. The aircraft received Egyptian registration SU-GFR.
The airplane took off yesterday from the manufacturer&#8217;s delivery centre at Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport (XFW) at 12:05 local time. It landed at Cairo International Airport (CAI), the airline&#8217;s main hub, after a four-hour flight.

EgyptAir, which expects to take delivery of a total of seven A321neo, opted for aircraft powered by two CFM International LEAP-1A engines and a two-class interior configuration, with 16 seats in Business Class and 166 in Economy. With the introduction of the type into commercial service, the company will increase its capacity on routes in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
«With the addition of the A321neo, EgyptAir is demonstrating continuous ambitions to expand its Airbus fleet to meet current and future demand», the European manufacturer said in a press release.
EgyptAir currently operates twelve Airbus A220, eight A320neo, two A320ceo, four A330-200 and four A330-300. In addition, it operates twenty-eight Boeing 737-800, six 777-300 and six 787-9.
<h4>Delivery with sustainable aviation fuel</h4>
The delivery flight was conducted with a 34% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend.
According to Airbus, all of its commercial aircraft are now capable of operating on a blend of up to 50% sustainable fuel blended with fossil fuel. In this regard, the company says it aims to reach 100% utilisation by the end of this decade.
