The Civil Aeronautics Authority of Colombia (Aerocivil) announced that Frontier Airlines has requested authorization to operate flights between Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and El Dorado International Airport (BOG) in Bogotá, Colombia.If approved, this route would mark Frontier Airlines' entry into South America, with Bogotá as its first destination in the region. Additionally, it would contribute to the diversification of the air travel market between Colombia and Puerto Rico.Currently, this market is dominated by Avianca, which connects Medellín and Bogotá with San Juan. In October 2024, JetBlue also launched operations from San Juan to Medellín.According to the document submitted to Aerocivil, Frontier plans to operate two weekly flights using Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft.
