Copa Airlines has announced a new connection to San Diego International Airport (SAN), expanding its network to 80 destinations across the Americas. The route will operate via Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama.
Service will begin on June 25, with four weekly flights operated by Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, which have a capacity of 166 passengers, offering a total of 1,328 seats per week.
- Flight CM 847: PTY 13:16 - 18:15 SAN / Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
- Flight CM 850: SAN 20:58 - 5:20 (+1) PTY / Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
"This new route strengthens our destination network and expands travel options for our passengers, reaffirming Copa's commitment to efficiency, punctuality, and high service standards that set us apart," said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.
"With San Diego, we enhance connectivity between Southern California and Central, South America, and the Caribbean, boosting tourism and trade across the continent. This connection will allow more travelers to conveniently and reliably access one of the most dynamic cities in the United States while integrating them into the largest route network in Latin America through the Hub of the Americas," he added.
Copa Airlines highlighted San Diego’s significance as a U.S. tourist destination, emphasizing its cultural diversity, iconic beaches, and attractions such as La Jolla Cove, the San Diego Zoo, and the historic Old Town.
With this new route, San Diego becomes the third city in California served by Copa Airlines, alongside Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO), and the 17th in the United States. Its addition aligns with the airline’s expansion plan, which, in its 2024 financial report, included the arrival of 13 new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in 2025.
