SANSA will add two Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX aircraft to its fleet in 2024, strengthening its operations and consolidating its position as Costa Rica’s leading domestic airline.
With these additions, the company will operate a total of twelve aircraft of the same model, configured to carry between 9 and 12 passengers. According to the aviation data platform Cirium, the new aircraft are expected to arrive in Costa Rica in June, coinciding with the start of the high summer season. They will be registered under the tail numbers TI-BME and TI-BMF.
The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX has a range of up to 1,200 kilometers and is capable of operating on both paved and unpaved runways as short as 600 meters, enabling access to remote areas of the country.
Currently, SANSA operates scheduled flights to 13 domestic destinations and maintains international connections to Bocas del Toro (Panama) and Managua (Nicaragua). Its business model focuses on facilitating travel for international tourists to hard-to-reach regions within Costa Rica.
In the domestic market, SANSA competes with carriers like Costa Rica Green Airways and other smaller regional operators, although it remains the largest airline in terms of volume and coverage in the country.
