Discovery Air Chile Partners with Horizon Aircraft for Cavorite X7 Deliveries by 2028
Discovery Air Chile has become the first South American operator to embrace Horizon Aircraft's Cavorite X7 Hybrid eVTOL. This partnership aims to revolutionize regional air transport in Chile by offering a faster, more efficient, and cost-effective alternative to traditional helicopters, with deliveries expected in 2028.
Horizon Aircraft and Discovery Air Chile signed a letter of intent to lease five Cavorite X7 eVTOL aircraft, scheduled for delivery in 2028. According to both companies, the agreement aims to introduce an alternative to traditional helicopter use for transporting passengers and time-sensitive goods in the Chilean market.
“We are proud to be the first South American operator of Horizon Aircraft’s Cavorite X7 Hybrid eVTOL. Sustainable operations, cost-effectiveness, and innovative technology, such as those provided by Horizon Aircraft, drive regional air services in Chile and are key to maintaining competitive operations. The Cavorite X7 is expected to revolutionize the speed, flexibility, and costs of transporting people and critical goods. This will be transformative for regional air movements in Chile,” said Álvaro González, General Manager of Discovery Air Chile.
According to Horizon Aircraft, the Cavorite X7 can operate at nearly twice the speed of a traditional helicopter, with hourly operating costs 30% lower and total estimated savings of up to 75% per mile traveled. Brandon Robinson, CEO of Horizon Aircraft, emphasized the model’s potential to optimize connectivity in critical situations: “In Chile, speed is essential for medical transports and emergencies. Our hybrid eVTOL offers an alternative that combines operational efficiency with lower costs,” he said.
The Cavorite X7 is a hybrid model designed to perform missions similar to those of a traditional airplane. According to Horizon Aircraft, it combines speed, range, and operational utility, positioning itself as a more economical solution for regional operations compared to conventional helicopters.
This eVTOL would have a range of 800 kilometers at a speed of 450 km/h, with a payload of 680 kg and up to seven passengers. It measures 11.6 meters in length, has a wingspan of 15 meters, and a height of 2.8 meters.
Regional expansion
Discovery Air Chile Ltda. will be the first South American operator to incorporate the Cavorite X7 model. This agreement is part of Horizon Aircraft’s strategy to expand in the global eVTOL aircraft market, which focuses on reducing costs and emissions in air transportation.
