Former Amaszonas Embraer E190 to Become Hotel Suite in Brazil
A reclaimed Embraer E190, formerly operated by Amaszonas Bolivia, has embarked on a new journey as it prepares to become a unique hotel suite in Campos do Jordão, Brazil. The aircraft, spotted traveling across São Paulo, marks a striking transformation after the airline's collapse in 2023
An Embraer E190 aircraft that previously operated for the Bolivian airline Amaszonas drew attention when it arrived at a popular tourist city in São Paulo's interior. The E190 jet was spotted traveling along São Paulo state highways yesterday, as exclusively reported by our associated Brazilian media outlet, AEROIN.
The aircraft departed from Gavião Peixoto, a town near Araraquara known for housing Embraer's operations and the southern hemisphere’s longest runway (4,967 meters). It crossed the entire state of São Paulo before reaching Campos do Jordão, one of Brazil's most visited winter destinations.
Manufactured in 2013, the aircraft had flown for Amaszonas Bolivia. However, the airline ceased operations in mid-2023 due to financial difficulties after being acquired by a Brazilian entrepreneur. Following the airline's collapse, the aircraft was reclaimed by its owner (lessor) and transported to Gavião Peixoto. This town also serves as a storage hub for Embraer and hosts assembly lines for the A-29 Super Tucano, KC-390 Millennium, and F-39 Gripen.
It has been confirmed that one of the reclaimed jets will be repurposed as a tourist and hotel attraction, serving as a suite for an inn in Campos do Jordão. The name of the establishment and the attraction’s opening date have yet to be disclosed.
