GOL Linhas Aéreas adds new routes connecting Porto Alegre, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro
Starting May 2025, GOL Linhas Aéreas will launch new routes connecting Porto Alegre with Buenos Aires and Caxias do Sul with Rio de Janeiro. Operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, these flights will enhance tourism and business opportunities in the region
GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced two new routes that will enhance connectivity in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, starting in May 2025. These connections will link Porto Alegre (POA) with Buenos Aires (AEP) and Caxias do Sul (CXJ) with Rio de Janeiro (GIG).
Starting May 5, 2025, GOL will operate three weekly flights between Porto Alegre and Jorge Newbery Aeroparque in Buenos Aires. This route addresses the growing demand from business travelers and tourists between Brazil and Argentina, following the recent resumption of flights between Brasília and Buenos Aires.
Porto Alegre now joins 12 Brazilian cities offering direct flights to Buenos Aires, alongside São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Florianópolis, and Recife.
On May 6, 2025, GOL will inaugurate the first direct, non-stop connection between Caxias do Sul and RIOgaleão Airport in Rio de Janeiro. With two weekly frequencies, this route will improve tourist access to the Serra Gaúcha, a region celebrated for its wineries and attractions such as Gramado and Canela.
Passengers departing from RIOgaleão Airport will also have access to more than 20 domestic and international destinations, broadening travel options between both regions.
Both routes will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, accommodating 176 passengers.
Silvio Costa Filho, Minister of Ports and Airports, highlighted that the full recovery of Salgado Filho International Airport in Porto Alegre has been pivotal in enabling these connections, benefiting both business and leisure tourism.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Leite, Governor of Rio Grande do Sul, emphasized the state’s growing importance as a strategic destination: “These connections strengthen tourism and showcase our culture, gastronomy, landscapes, and hospitality, aligning with our national tourism campaign.”
