Iberia increases flights to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Puerto Rico in 2024
The Iberia Group, encompassing Iberia and LEVEL, has unveiled its new schedule for the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2024. This reveals a significant increase in frequencies to six countries in Latin America and the Caribbean compared to the same period in 2023.
Currently, the airline group operates in 16 countries in the region, with flights from two major airports: Barcelona (BCN) via LEVEL and Madrid (MAD) via Iberia. This allows them to offer flights to 18 destinations on 20 direct routes, totaling 169 weekly frequencies and providing 52,803 weekly seats each way.
The summer season kicks off early this year, starting on March 25 and extending until October 28, 2024. This decision is in response to the strong occupancy levels the airline has experienced on routes between Spain and Latin America.
Analysis: How are LEVEL’s operations?
Latin America: Iberia’s Priority
The American continent, particularly Latin America, stands as a strategic priority for Iberia. Over these months, the airline will offer over 3.1 million seats between the two regions, reaffirming its commitment to this growing market.
Compared to the previous season, the Iberia Group has expanded its operations in key destinations such as Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE), Caracas (CCS), Guayaquil (GYE), Quito (UIO), Rio de Janeiro/Galeão (GIG), San Juan (SJU), and Santiago (SCL). At the same time, it will maintain its frequencies in other essential destinations like Guatemala City (GUA), Panama City (PTY), Havana (HAV), Lima (LIM), Montevideo (MVD), San José (SJO), San Salvador (SAL), Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ), and São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU).
Bogotá (BOG) and Mexico City (MEX) continue to stand out as the destinations with the highest seat and frequency offerings across Iberia’s long-haul network.
On the other hand, an immediate recovery is not anticipated for flights to Cali (CLO) and Medellín/Rionegro in Colombia, destinations that Iberia operated before the pandemic.

Iberia and LEVEL’s Frequencies in Latin America and the Caribbean
It’s important to note that flight frequencies are subject to change, allowing greater flexibility in response to changing market conditions.
New Wide-Body Aircraft for Iberia
The increase in Iberia and LEVEL’s frequencies relies on the addition of new wide-body aircraft to their fleet, which currently operates with 16 Airbus A330-200s, 8 Airbus A330-300s, and 20 Airbus A350-900s.

Iberia Group’s commitment to expanding its fleet is evident as they convert purchase options for an Airbus A350-900 into firm orders, with delivery scheduled for 2025. This acquisition will increase the A350-900 order to a total of three, two of which will be delivered this year.
Additionally, LEVEL will also receive another Airbus A330-200 on lease. By 2024, the airline will increase its Airbus A330 fleet based in Barcelona from four to seven.
