Although the works will require the temporary suspension of flights, there will be 15 operational days to accommodate commercial flights. The available dates in December will be the 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 29th, 30th, and 31st, while in January operations will be allowed on the 1st, 5th, 11th, and 12th.

According to Corpac, these improvements represent an investment of 7 million soles and are aimed at optimizing the runway and the aircraft platform. The project was previously managed by representatives of the Junín region, with the support of Congressman Jorge Montoya.

The Jauja airport currently receives daily flights from SKY Airlines, operated with A320neo aircraft, and LATAM Airlines, which uses A319 and A320 aircraft, transporting more than 240,000 passengers annually.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru (MTC) is carrying out an airport improvement program. In Anta (Áncash), commercial flights resumed on July 1 after upgrades to the runway and the passenger terminal. Additionally, in Jaén (Cajamarca), commercial flights were carried out on July 20, 23, and 27, after operations for aircraft under 30 tons were authorized in June.
Similarly, in Andahuaylas (Apurímac), the airport serving the locality resumed its activities. The terminal building was repaired, air navigation equipment was brought into operation, the control tower was restored, and rescue vehicles were made operational to respond to any eventuality.
Finally, the MTC is also working on the improvement and expansion of the airports in Juanjuí, Huánuco (HUU), Ilo (ILQ), Rioja (RIJ), Chimbote (CHM), and Yurimaguas (YMS).
