New year, new aircraft: SKY Airline receives another A320neo
The low-cost airline welcomes 2025 with a new aircraft to operate high-density, short-haul routes
On January 3, SKY received a new Airbus A320neo, registered as CC-DBO. This aircraft, the first of the year, landed in Santiago (SCL) after its transfer from Toulouse (TLS) with stopovers in Reykjavik (KEF) and Miami (MIA). The aircraft is being incorporated under a leasing agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital Limited.
The A320neo CC-DBO is configured to carry up to 186 passengers. Since 2021, the company has prioritized renewing its fleet with models from the A320neo and A321neo families, taking advantage of their benefits in fuel consumption and emissions reduction.
With this latest A320neo, SKY increases its capacity to operate high-density, short-haul routes, while the A321neo, with a capacity for 238 passengers, is designated for longer routes with higher demand.
The leasing agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital Limited allows SKY to access state-of-the-art aircraft without compromising its financial flexibility. This strategy has been key for the airline to maintain a competitive cost structure in the low-cost segment, especially in a market where financial optimization is crucial for success.
SKY Airline is preparing for the incorporation of the Airbus A321XLR at the end of 2025. This model, with greater range and efficiency, will open new connectivity opportunities from its bases in Santiago and Lima to destinations such as Miami, New York, Cancun, and Rapa Nui.
