Safran invests 720 million pesos in the expansion of its plant in Querétaro, creating 128 specialized jobs. This site will be key for the assembly of Airbus LEAP 1A engines, strengthening the state as a strategic hub.
Safran Aircraft Engines México inaugurated a new extension of its plant in Querétaro, cementing its position as a cornerstone of the country’s aerospace industry. The project was announced during the FIA Farnborough.
The General Manager of Safran Aircraft Engines México, Marcial Suárez, emphasized that the expansion will enable the final assembly of LEAP 1A engines, destined for aircraft in the Airbus family, making it the first site in Mexico with this capability.
Assembly of 100 engines
Jean-Francois Locufier, assembly director, revealed plans to assemble 100 LEAP 1A engines by 2027, thanks to the collaboration between Mexican and French teams. This achievement reinforces Querétaro as one of the three key centers for Safran, alongside France and the United States.
With this expansion, Safran reaffirms its trust in Querétaro, a region that, according to SEDESU head Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, is improving its quality of life through formal employment and industrial innovation.
This development, celebrating 15 years of Safran’s presence in Mexico, marks a milestone in solidifying the state as a global leader in the aerospace sector.
