Strengthening Sichuan Airlines' Presence in Europe
This new route will make Madrid the seventh Spanish city with a direct connection to China, further expanding Sichuan Airlines' footprint in Europe, where it already serves Istanbul, Moscow, Rome, and St. Petersburg.
The growth of Chinese airlines in Europe has been facilitated by their access to Russian airspace, allowing them to offer shorter routes and lower operational costs compared to European carriers. While many European airlines have reduced frequencies to China, airlines like China Southern, Juneyao Airlines, and Hainan Airlines have expanded their networks with new routes to Milan, Budapest, Brussels, and Vienna.
