SKY Airline to launch Buenos Aires-Salvador de Bahía flights amid expanded authorizations
The Argentine Undersecretariat of Air Transport has expanded SKY Airline Perú's operational authorizations, granting fifth freedom rights on key international routes connecting Lima, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and multiple cities in Brazil and Uruguay. These measures aim to enhance regional connectivity and support the airline's growth across South America
This Friday, the Undersecretariat of Air Transport of the Republic of Argentina published two provisions in the Official Gazette that expand the operational authorizations for SKY Airline Perú on international routes.
Through Provision 2/2025, the Undersecretariat repealed the prior authorization granted in 2022 by the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) and granted SKY Airline Perú permission to operate regular services on the Lima - Buenos Aires (Ezeiza or Aeroparque) - Santiago de Chile route and vice versa. The authorization includes fifth freedom traffic rights, allowing the airline to embark and disembark passengers, as well as transport cargo, between intermediate points. Previously, the authorization applied exclusively to Ezeiza; now, no specific airport is mentioned.
Additionally, under Provision 1/2025, the airline received approval to expand its international services from Lima to Buenos Aires with connections to several cities in Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile. These operations, also under fifth freedom rights, include stops in Salvador de Bahía, São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro, and Montevideo, with the option to skip intermediate points. This expansion paves the way for significant growth opportunities for the ultra low-cost carrier in flights originating from Argentina’s capital, echoing its strategy from Montevideo.
This week, SKY Airline announced the launch of flights between Buenos Aires/Ezeiza and Salvador de Bahía starting in April.

The provisions reference the Air Services Agreement between Argentina and Peru (approved in 2007) and the Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2024 as the legal framework for these authorizations. It is also noted that SKY Airline Perú has fulfilled all legal and administrative requirements under current regulations.
According to the provisions, these measures aim to strengthen air commerce relations between Argentina and Peru, providing the airline with enhanced opportunities to expand its presence in the region. This expansion connects passengers and cargo across strategic routes in the Southern Cone and Brazil.
Currently, SKY Airline operates from Santiago and Lima to Buenos Aires with 28 and 7 weekly flights, respectively. Additionally, it flies from Santiago to Mendoza with 10 weekly flights, Bariloche with 3 weekly flights, and El Calafate twice a week.
