Volaris, in partnership with OMA and San Luis Potosí International Airport, has announced the launch of three new international routes. Starting in July, the Mexican city will be connected to Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
The new connections will include four weekly flights to Dallas, three to Houston, and three to San Antonio, significantly increasing the current seat capacity to Texas.
OMA’s CEO, Ricardo Dueñas, stated, “The expansion of our air connectivity with Volaris, through these new international routes, reflects our commitment to the economic and social development of San Luis Potosí. Likewise, we continue to promote infrastructure improvements to provide our passengers with the best travel experience, strengthening the airport’s position as a strategic hub for the state’s economy and tourism.”
Since 2016, the airport has been undergoing continuous expansion and modernization, with an investment exceeding 950 million pesos to enhance its operational infrastructure and capacity. As a result, the terminal has tripled its capacity, now accommodating up to 1.2 million passengers annually.
In 2024, the airport handled more than 736,000 passengers, a 2.5% increase compared to 2023. The addition of these new routes will help sustain this positive growth trend in both domestic and international passenger traffic.
These three new international routes will complement existing direct flights to Atlanta, Querétaro, and Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), along with an expanded flight schedule to Monterrey. This will improve San Luis Potosí’s access to key markets in both Mexico and the United States throughout the year.
Jorge Roberto García, Volaris’ Director of Distribution and Market Development, emphasized that “San Luis Potosí, which has become a key pillar in the country’s economic and cultural landscape, is also an integral part of Volaris’ international expansion strategy, particularly towards the United States. This is one of our priority markets due to the strong binational social exchange driven by family, tourism, and business ties, where Volaris plays a crucial role.”
OMA continues to focus on innovation and sustainability within its airports, implementing technologies that reduce environmental impact and enhance operational efficiency. Notable initiatives include the installation of 750 solar panels and the implementation of electric energy storage, reflecting the group’s commitment to sustainable development.
