On November 19, the US low-cost airline Spirit Airlines will inaugurate the route between Fort Lauderdale and Barranquilla.
This route was initially scheduled to begin operating in April 2020, but the start of the operation was suspended to the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As reported by the airline, this route will be operated three times a week from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to the Ernesto Cortissoz Airport in Barranquilla.
Fares start at USD 81.39, without taxes and the flight lasts 2 hours 50 minutes.
Spirit will also inaugurate on November 18 another route that will connect Fort Lauderdale with Bucaramanga, a city that is located in the north of Colombia. This will become the only direct connection from the capital of the department of Santander to the United States.
The route will be operated three times a week, with fares starting at $ 67.29 with an estimated flight time from the US city to Bucaramanga of 3 hours and 14 minutes.
“We are very excited to welcome Barranquilla and Bucaramanga to our Spirit family and continue our mission to offer the best experience to our passengers,” said Camilo Martelo, Director International Stations for Spirit Airlines.
“We announced these new destinations in January and, from that moment, we were waiting for the inauguration of these two routes with great excitement. Colombia is a very important market for Spirit and we remain committed to continuing to grow in the country, «he added.
This non-stop connection between Fort Lauderdale and Colombian cities will attract investment and cause growth in the region, and will also allow all Colombian residents to move without having to go through downtown Miami, becoming an excellent opportunity for tourism opening from the United States to these cities of Colombia.
