Peru signed a contract with Aviation Global Group for the acquisition of a Boeing 737-400F that will join its Air Force.
The contract for USD 10.4 million was signed between the Armed Forces Purchasing Agency and the US company. The aircraft was manufactured in 1992. In March of that year it began to provide services for Royal Air Maroc with the registration CN-RMX. 12 years later, in November 2004, the aircraft began operating for Atlas Blue, according to information published by Defensa.com.
In January 2010 the aircraft joined Royal Air Maroc fleet again and two years later it was sold to Aergo Capital, an Irish airline on which it flew under the registration number N526TP.
Between February and May 2013, the aircraft was converted to 737-400F by Pemco World Air Services, in Jinan (China).
It currently has a side door and can transport containers or pallets of various types. The B737-400F that will be incorporated into the Peruvian Air Force can carry up to 21,000 kg of cargo.
In June 2013 the aircraft began to fly for the Brazilian company Colt Aviation with the registration PR-IOY.
4 years later it returned to Aergo Capital. In June 2020 was acquired by AerCaribe under the registration number HK-5228.
The Peruvian Air Force (FAP) adds this B737-400F to its fleet increasing the operational capabilities of Air Group No. 8, located at the General Armando Revoredo Iglesias Base, on Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima.
The current FAP air transport aircraft fleet is formed by:
- 1 Boeing 737-200,
- 1 737-528,
- 3 Antonov An-32B,
- 1 Learjet 45XR,
- 2 Lockheed L100-20 Hercules and
- 4 Leonardo C-27J Spartan
Additionally, Peru would receive a B737-300 from D&S Aviation at the end of this month of November.
