On April 13, the first SKY Airline A321neo was seen at the Airbus factory in Germany. The Chilean low-cost expects to receive it in the fourth quarter of 2021. Initially, it will operate the flights with the highest demand on the domestic and international network from Lima in Peru and Santiago de Chile.

The Spotter Tobias Gudat, who registers aircraft at the Airbus facility in Hamburg, released the image of the first A321neo.

The integration of engines, paint, cabin, test flights and certification prior to delivery is yet to be completed. SKY has apending order of seventeen Airbus A321neos, including ten A321XLRs. These Airbus are going to be configured with 237 seats in a single class.

The airline has nineteen Airbus A320neos and awaits the delivery of six additional units.

Prior to the pandemic, SKY found itself in a process of international expansion but the arrival of COVID 19 delayed its plans.

Currently, it has suspended all of its international operations as a consequence of the sanitary restrictions imposed by the Chilean government, except for its route between Santiago de Chile and Lima.

Prior to the pandemic SKY operated flights to Bogota in Colombia, Buenos Aires and Mendoza in Argentina, Cancun in Mexico, and Florianopolis, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. In the summer season, it also had flights to Montevideo and Punta del Este in Uruguay and had plans to operate in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
