The Dominican government has made progress in the implementation of new entry requirements for almost twenty countries with the aim of containing the arrival of new variants of COVID-19.

These measures were announced by the president of the JAC, Dr. José Marte Piantini last Friday and are materialized through Resolution No. 133-2021.

In his remarks, José Piantini detailed the countries affected by the resolution and stated: «as of this date, all passengers will be required to arrive in the Dominican Republic from Australia, the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales), Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Ireland, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Syria, Sweden, Monaco, Thailand, Tunisia, Brazil, South Africa and India presenting negative PCR test taken with no more than 72 hours before arrival or presentation of vaccination card with no more than 3 weeks after the last dose was placed «. These requirements were already in force since June 2 for those who came from Brazil, the United Kingdom and South Africa.

It should be noted that compliance with the foregoing also runs for passengers of the aforementioned nationalities who try to enter the country through a third territory or, those who have been in those countries in the last 14 days. For their part, the crew members are not exempt, having to present a negative PCR or vaccination card and being kept in confinement within the hotel.

The president of the JAC also commented that a great effort is being made by the Dominican government, managing to apply a total of 7,482,545 doses at the moment, placing the country among the five that have best handled the crisis in the region.
