Located on Calle de Las Damas, the first paved street in the New World, the hotel is surrounded by historic sites such as the Casa de Diego Colón (brother of Christopher Columbus), the Museum of the Royal Houses, and the First Catholic Cathedral of the Americas.
Other noteworthy places include the restaurant at the Bellini Hotel and the delightful dishes at the Larimar restaurant, featuring beautiful decor inspired by a variety of pectolite, a mineral found only in Barahona Province, in the southern region of the Dominican Republic, stunning with its shades of blue.

<h2>Building the future of aviation talent</h2>
Since its inception, the “Pilot for a Day” program has benefited nearly 1,000 children and young people from vulnerable areas of the Dominican Republic. Víctor Pacheco Méndez remarked that this project seeks to give children the opportunity to learn about their flagship airline and motivate them to prepare academically to become part of the aviation sector. “We want to share our passion for aviation so that, in the future, these children can join Arajet and lead important areas of the sector,” he said.
Through this initiative, Arajet not only reinforces its social responsibility but also invests in the development of its community and the promising future of aviation in the Dominican Republic.

«Arajet’s ‘Pilot for a Day’ Program Marks Two Years of Inspiring Aviation Dreams»

The first flight of the Italian airline Neos on the Milan–Punta Cana–Cartagena route landed in Colombia this Sunday, marking the beginning of a new connection between the two countries. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which carried 130 passengers, departed that same evening from Cartagena&#8217;s Rafael Núñez Airport bound for Milan.
Colombia&#8217;s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jorge Rojas, highlighted the arrival of the inaugural flight on his X account. “At this hour, a new airline arrives in the country with the inaugural Milan-Cartagena flight bringing 130 tourists to discover the country of beauty,” he stated.
According to Aeronáutica Civil, this route, authorized in mid-year, will operate once a week and is initially scheduled to run until April 2025. Colombia&#8217;s Ambassador to Italy, Ligia Margarita Quessep, was also present on the inaugural flight.
Aeronáutica Civil, through its X account, welcomed passengers from Italy with a message of greeting: “Passengers from #Italy Welcome to the #CountryOfBeauty! The city of Cartagena cordially greets you with a warm welcome, wishing you a wonderful stay in Colombia, a touristic and social country, where change is advancing.”
This new connection aims to strengthen tourism in Cartagena de Indias and position Colombia as an attractive destination for European travelers. According to authorities, the weekly flight will increase tourism flows to the Caribbean region and promote cultural and economic exchange between the two countries.

Neos Launches Milan–Cartagena Route with Weekly Flights on Boeing 787-9

On December 18, Aviacionline erroneously reported that Arajet had decided to suspend the route between the Dominican Republic and Santiago de Chile due to «low occupancy», but after verifying the information with the company, it was clarified that the route is performing as expected, and no changes in frequency are anticipated.
While the dynamics of connections are always subject to variation, the airline confirmed the continuity of the route with its usual schedule and operations.
<h2>Santiago de Chile, a route that is performing well and will not undergo changes</h2>
On October 30, 2023, the low-cost carrier began operations between Santo Domingo and the Chilean capital using its Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The route operates as follows:

<li>Santo Domingo – Santiago flight DM 187 SDQ 18:00 – 03:00 (+1) SCL / Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.</li>

Company sources stated that the route has significant demand within the connectivity network and benefits from being the only operator directly linking the two capitals. LATAM, a competitor in the binational corridor, flies from Santiago to Punta Cana.
From Santo Domingo, passengers can access Arajet&#8217;s destinations beyond the Dominican Republic and can travel to Punta Cana via a ground transportation link.

No changes: Arajet continues flying to Santiago de Chile

<a href="https://promos.arajet.com/es/">Arajet</a> achieved a historic milestone by surpassing one million passengers in 2024, becoming the first Dominican airline to reach this figure in a single year. The company also solidified its expansion with the inauguration of its new base at Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).
During November, Arajet transported 96,586 passengers, representing 7% of the travelers who entered or exited the Dominican Republic that month. This figure, highlighted in the report by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), confirms the airline&#8217;s exponential growth since it began operations in September 2022. According to the airline, this new base in Punta Cana will allow for greater connectivity for passengers while maintaining key operations from Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ).<a href="https://aviacionline.com/2024/10/arajet-empezo-a-operar-su-segunda-base-en-republica-dominicana/">With the expansion in Punta Cana, Arajet</a> will operate at three Dominican airports, increasing its routes to and from the country from 20 to 28, a growth of 19.5%.

<h2>Growth and projections</h2>
The airline, which currently operates a fleet of 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8 configured for 185 passengers, projects closing 2024 with 1.2 million passengers. This growth is supported by route expansion and its low-cost model. 
Additionally, according to the Cirium platform, Arajet expects to receive 18 additional aircraft by 2029, with an option for seven more, reinforcing its commitment to connecting the continent from Canada to Argentina. 
The CEO and founder of Arajet, Víctor Pacheco, highlighted the impact of the new base in Punta Cana, saying, «For Arajet, it is a firm commitment to continue democratizing the skies and connecting the continent from Canada to Argentina at the best market price with world-class service.” 
Meanwhile, Giovanni Rainieri, Director of Airside Operations at Punta Cana Airport, stated, «This strategic alliance aligns with our mission to remain the airport with the highest air traffic in the Dominican Republic, receiving 68% of the tourists arriving in our country.”

Arajet reaches historic milestone: Over 1 million passengers transported in 2024

Argentina and the Dominican Republic have signed a bilateral open skies agreement, adding the Caribbean nation to the list of 11 countries with which Argentina has signed such agreements. According to the National Government, this measure aims to consolidate the open skies policy in the region and expand connectivity options for passengers and airlines.
The agreement removes frequency restrictions on routes between the two countries, which previously allowed a maximum of 14 weekly flights. Airlines will now be able to adjust the number of flights based on market conditions and seasonal demand. Additionally, it establishes the possibility of operating cargo flights under the «seventh freedom of the air,» allowing flights that neither begin nor end in the airline&#8217;s home country.
The agreement was signed by Argentina&#8217;s Secretary of Transportation, Franco Mogetta, and the President of the Dominican Republic&#8217;s Civil Aviation Board, Héctor Porcella Dumas. Other attendees included the Dominican ambassador to Argentina, Gustavo Hernando Castillo, and Argentina&#8217;s ambassador to the Dominican Republic, María Sandra Winkler.
The agreement will not only expand direct connectivity between the two countries but also enhance connections with other nations in the region. The offerings for this summer season are as follows:

Argentina and Dominican Republic Sign Open Skies Agreement to Boost Connectivity

<a href="https://www.aveloair.com/">Avelo Airlines</a> adds five new routes, four from New Haven and one from Hartford, starting in February, further consolidating itself as a key player in regional aviation in the United States with the expansion of its network of frequencies from Connecticut. 
According to the announcement, the low-cost airline will add non-stop services from New Haven to Florida, Texas, Michigan, and Maine. In the same month, it will add a third international service to the Dominican Republic from Hartford, joining existing services to Cancun (Mexico) and Montego Bay (Jamaica).
By adding these five new routes, Avelo will operate 39 services from Connecticut: 31 from New Haven and 8 from Hartford. Promotional fares start at 39 USD per segment, and tickets can be purchased from the airline&#8217;s website.

Promotional fares for this new route will be available until December 6, offering a limited-time opportunity for travelers looking to plan their next destination.
On December 12, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Paris will host a presentation event for tour operators, where additional details about the service will be shared, including which airline&#8217;s fleet will be used for the operations.

Venezuela Suspends Flights to Panama and Dominican Republic Amid Political Tensions

In a new update to the reservation system, Aerolíneas Argentinas will increase its flights to Punta Cana (PUJ), Dominican Republic, for the summer season of 2024/25. The airline will add new frequencies from Córdoba (COR) and Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE) and will introduce two new routes departing from Tucumán (TUC) and Rosario (ROS).
This update comes a week after <a href="http://aviacionline.com/2024/07/arajet-empieza-a-vender-vuelos-entre-buenos-aires-y-punta-cana/">Arajet replaced its daily flight from Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ) with Punta Cana (PUJ)-Buenos Aires</a> starting October 28, 2024.
According to the state airline&#8217;s website, from November to December, it will increase its weekly flights from Buenos Aires/Ezeiza from 4 to 5, and then increase to 6 per week (daily except Sundays) between January and March. Operations will continue with Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which have a capacity of 269 passengers.
Meanwhile, from Córdoba, it will resume operations <a href="http://aviacionline.com/2024/05/cordoba-punta-cana-aerolineas-argentinas-lanzo-la-venta-de-su-nueva-ruta-con-conexiones-al-interior/">on September 13, 2024, with 2 weekly flights</a>, which will increase to 4 weekly flights between January and March 2025. Flights to Punta Cana will offer connections to other points in the Argentine interior and will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, accommodating 170 passengers.
Lastly, between January and March 2025, Aerolíneas Argentinas will have one weekly flight from Tucumán (TUC) and Rosario (ROS). Both destinations will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
The airline will offer twelve weekly flights between Argentina and the Dominican Republic, providing a capacity of 5,268 seats per week during the summer season.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Argentina is the sixth country with the highest tourist movement to the Caribbean nation. Arajet flights at Punta Cana Airport will begin on November 1, with destinations to be announced later. This airport becomes Arajet&#8217;s third destination in the Dominican Republic, as the airline also operates regular flights at the Cibao International Airport and is exploring the possibility of adding flights from the Puerto Plata International Airport.
Arajet is currently the Dominican airline with the most traffic in the first quarter of 2024, representing 8% of the total passengers transported in the country during May.

Arajet to Begin Operations from Punta Cana Airport Starting November

The Dominican low-cost airline Arajet received its tenth Boeing 737 MAX 8 (registration HI1101), which was named «Los Haitises» and features a special design with the Dominican flag painted along its fuselage, highlighted as «a way to emphasize Dominican identity and the construction of the new regional air hub.»
“This tenth aircraft is special because it will increase the number of connections we make with the continent and reaffirms our commitment to all of Latin America to democratize the skies and connect all our countries with low prices, the best quality, and the warmth of Dominican service,” said Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet.
“The dream of making the Dominican Republic the new hub of the continent is becoming a reality thanks to the more than 400 direct collaborators we have; a work that has been internationally recognized when in 2023 we were awarded as the best new airline in the world at the World Aviation Summit, and that should fill all Dominicans with pride,” continued the executive.

Arajet already flies to 23 destinations in 16 countries across the Americas, and hopes to enter the United States this year once the Dominican Republic finalizes the open skies agreement with that country. This will be key to their growth.
The name «Los Haitises» comes from the Taíno language, meaning high land or land of mountains, and is one of the «most beautiful corners of the republic,» as defined by Pacheco Méndez.
The other nine Arajet Boeing 737 MAX aircraft have been named after other regions of the Dominican Republic: Pico Duarte, Valle Nuevo, Jaragua, Ojos Indígenas, Los Tres Ojos, Isla Saona, Lago Enriquillo, Laguna Redonda, and Bahía de las Águilas.
Arajet&#8217;s network in the Dominican Republic includes Santo Domingo (its hub), Punta Cana, and Santiago de los Caballeros, and across the continent it serves Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, São Paulo, Lima, Guayaquil, Quito, Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, San José-CR, Guatemala City, San Salvador, Mexico City, Cancún, Aruba, Curaçao, Kingston, Montreal, Toronto, and St. Maarten.

Tenth 737 MAX Joins Arajet Fleet with Distinctive Dominican Livery

American Airlines announced the launch of eight new routes between the United States and Latin America and the Caribbean, and the enhancement of frequencies on other existing services to meet demand during the winter season 2024/2025.
In total, the company is preparing to offer 11% more flights and 10% more seats compared to the previous winter season, strengthening its position as the U.S. airline with the largest presence in the region.
During the winter peak, American Airlines will operate over 2,350 weekly flights to more than 95 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
