Thirteen months after suspending its operations in Central America as a result of the health crisis, Southwest Airlines returned to the region with flights to Liberia (LIR) and San José (SJO) in Costa Rica.

Flight WN 691 arrived in Liberia from Houston / Hobby (HOU) at 12:57 on Sunday, establishing the return of the low-cost to the region. In the afternoon, from the same origin, at 6:56 p.m., flight WN 112 landed at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, Costa Rica.

Additionally, on June 12, flights between Washington / Baltimore and Liberia will be inaugurated.

The National Institute of Tourism (ICT for its initials in Spanish) announced through a statement that with the landing of Southwest Airlines Liberia has recovered all the airlines that operated in that city prior to the pandemic.

Thus, all US airlines have already returned to Central America.
