American Airlines reported on its official website the indefinite suspension of its route between Miami and Manaus.
After what had been a significant cut in personnel, fleet and routes of the American company in March 2020, a new section has now been canceled, which further complicates the residents of both the United States and Brazil, reducing the number of entry and exit doors between the two countries.
The route that was operated in Airbus A319 aircraft with capacity for 138 passengers in 2 classes, had already suffered a suspension at the beginning of the pandemic and had been resumed in January of this year, but then it was postponed again 3 months later.
The airline was scheduled to resume the route for November of this year, taking into account the reopening of the borders of its country of origin, but this has been truncated and there is still no expectation of return or an estimated date for it.
The direct connection by air between Brazil and the United States is currently allowed only for North American residents and citizens and the acceptance of vaccinated Brazilian tourists is not foreseen at the moment, despite the fact that Canada, France and Switzerland have already opened their borders to receive them.
According to the data reported by our Brazilian partner site Aeroin, only 2 routes will connect the north of Brazil with the US:
- Manaus (MAO) – Orlando (MCO) via GOL
- Belén (BEL) – Miami (FLL) via Azul
