The group of airlines Air France-KLM, based at the Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris, would be close to acquiring 160 new narrow-body aircraft. If the news is confirmed, it would be the largest order in the history of the company.
As reported by Bloomberg, the aircraft would be destined for Transavia’s French and Dutch subsidiaries (owned by the group) and KLM. The order will likely be for a Boeing 737 MAX, Airbus A220 or A320, or a combination of these. Transavia currently has a fleet consisting exclusively of Boeing 737NG.
This news comes after Air France secured a 4 billion euro (4.75 billion of dollars) bailout from the French government in April.
