Viva Air submitted a new request to Aerocivil to operate five national and six international routes. In this new petition, the company would seek to have the routes approved by the Colombian aeronautical regulator for future expansion.
The requested international routes are from Medellín / José María Córdova (MDE) to Santiago de Chile (SCL); São Paulo / Guarulhos (GRU) and Rio de Janeiro / Galeao (GIG) in Brazil and San José in Costa Rica. And also from Bogotá (BOG) to Santiago de Chile and San Pablo.
With regard to domestic flights, the company seeks to expand the offer in Cartagena (CTG) and San Andrés (ADZ) with flights to Barranquilla (BAQ), Bucaramanga (BGA) and Cúcuta (CUC), making visible a focus on eastern Colombia.
The ultra low cost has been exhibiting strong growth in the Colombian territory, being that it has recovered 100% of its network and at the same time exceeding the operational capacity of 2019. The milestone was visualized when the mark of two million passengers transported in Colombia was broken during this first half of 2021.

At the same time, the company continues its expansion plan on a continental level by consolidating the José María Córdova Airport in Medellín as a new regional hub, which already connects with Cancun, Lima, Orlando, Miami and, as of August, Mexico City. From Bogotá Viva also flies to Lima and the Mexican capital.
But it also continues to decentralize large cities with other routes within the country as demand recovers.
Regarding its fleet, the company received eight Airbus A320neos from an order of 35 NEOs, to these must be added the other twelve Airbus A320ceos that the company has.
