Flair Airlines to open a new base at Edmonton

Flair Airlines, Canada’s unique privately owned ultra-low-cost carrier, announced the opening of a new base at Edmonton International Airport (CYEG) as part of its expansion in the region. From there, it will fly to four new destinations in the United States.

The airline will begin flying to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles (Hollywood Burbank). These flights will start in December, operating until spring 2022. Flights to the U.S. will start on December 16 (Las Vegas and Los Angeles), with the other routes starting the same week.

Flair will offer 2 weekly flights to Phoenix, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles, and 3 weekly flights to Las Vegas. The airline also offers flights from Edmonton to Abbotsford, Kelowna, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Victoria.

Stephen Jones, President and CEO of Flair Airlines, said «Our base at Edmonton International Airport will provide affordable and accessible fares. We will locate a 737-8 at this airport to help continue our growth,» he added. Tom Ruth, President and CEO of Edmonton International Airport, also noted that «Basing aircraft and crew in Edmonton demonstrates Flair’s continued commitment to our region».

Flair’s new base will begin operations in December. Between direct and indirect employment, an estimated 50 new jobs will be created. These will add to the 75 jobs the airline already has at its Edmonton headquarters.
