At 11:18 local time (8:18 UTC) this Tuesday, a serious accident of a prototype of the military transport Ilyushin Il-112V, registered as RF-41400, was reported in the vicinity of Moscow.
According to United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), the two-year-old aircraft was conducting training flights during the approach at the nearby Kubinka airfield. It crashed into a forest belt.
Some witnesses recorded on video the moment previous to the crash when the aircrat presented the first visual failures (we prefer not to disclose the video out of respect for the victims and their families).
In the footage taken by one of the eyewitnesses, a fire is observed in the right engine, and a few seconds later it leans on the side of the problematic engine and crashes in a heavily forested area.
UAC clarifies that details of the accident are being investigated in order to know the causes of it. The manufacturer emphasizes that a corresponding commission will be created.
The first reports confirm the death of the commander (Nikolai Kuimov), the first officer (Dmitry Komarov) and an engineer (Nikolai Khludeev) were on the aircraft. Kudimov, chief of the crew, had been awarded the Gold Star Order, the highest of national distinctions.
Kudínov was one of the most experienced pilots of the IL-112V, in fact he was the one who made the maiden flight of the model on March 30, 2019.
The model involved is designed to carry up to 50 passengers and a payload of up to five tons. It is intended to replace the outdated An-26. The-112V has a range of up to 1,200 km (745 miles) and a cruising speed of 470 km/h (292 mph)
