Aerolíneas Argentinas retires its first Airbus A330

On Thursday, September 23rd at 18:46 local time, Aerolíneas Argentinas‘ Airbus A330, registration LV-FNI, departed from Ezeiza Airport, with destination Roswell. After seven years with the airline, the 22-year-old aircraft left Argentina.

The registered LV-FNI was the first Airbus A330 received by Aerolíneas Argentinas in 2013 when it started with the fleet renewal process that ended with 10 of this aircraft type. With the departure of this A330, the carrier remains with 9 of this model.

According to information obtained by Aviacionline, Aerolíneas Argentinas plans to remove three Airbus A330s from the fleet in 2022 (LV-FNJ, LV-FNK and LV-FNL).

  • LV-FNJ: preserved – not operating for more than one year.
  • LV-FNK: extended contract until April 2022. Could be retired next year.
  • LV-FNL: extended contract until April 2022. Could be retired next year.

Clarification: the retirement of these aircraft is not related to low demand, it was programmed.

Aerolineas Argentinas will incorporate two new Airbus A330-200s to replace the aircraft scheduled to be retired. The registration numbers will be LV-KAN and LV-KAO, both ex TAP Air Portugal.
