At 04:42 local time on Monday, September 6, the first Avianca flight from Bogota landed at Silvio Pettirossi Airport (Asuncion). The Colombian company had suspended its operations between both capitals last February 19 as a consequence of COVID-19, its impact on demand and restrictions.
With Avianca’s resumption, Colombia and Paraguay were once again connected non-stop. Prior to the cancellations, Avianca was also the only operator between these countries.
Based on current passenger traffic, Avianca will fly twice weekly to and from Asuncion on Airbus A319s, offering 240 weekly seats per leg.
