Eastern Airlines’ current schedule consists of two routes: Montevideo from Miami, and New York – Guayaquil. These routes are operated by Boeing 767-300(ER), with a capacity for 244 passengers.
While Montevideo has two flights per week, Guayaquil has four weekly operations. Between the two routes Eastern has 12 weekly flights (6 per leg) with a fleet of 14 aircraft:
Aircraft | Total | Registrations |
---|---|---|
Boeing 767-200(ER) | 5 | N602KW, N603KW, N604KW, N605KW, N606KW |
Boeing 767-300(ER) | 7 | N225NE, N36NE, N509KW, N700KW, N703KW, N706KW |
Boeing 777-200(ER) | 2 | N771KW, N783KW |
Both Boeing 777-200(ER) aircraft have not yet performed any scheduled flights with Eastern, and continue to be preserved pending their incorporation into commercial service.
Meanwhile, the Boeing 767-200(ER) aircraft has few scheduled operations, as they are mainly focused on charter flights.
Last March Eastern was scheduled to inaugurate flights to Belo Horizonte from Boston, Miami and New York in May. Finally, the airline cancelled Boston operations, and plans to start with Miami and New York between November and December, on Boeing 767-300(ER) aircraft.
Sarajevo, its first European destination, was scheduled for its first flight on May 28. Eastern planned a weekly frequency on Boeing 767-200(ER) aircraft to and from Chicago, marking its arrival in that U.S. city. A few weeks after the announcement, Eastern Airlines suspended this schedule.
One of Eastern’s best routes earlier this year (Asunción) has flights suspended until at least November 2. The reasons for this cancellation are mainly due to a decrease in the demand and the drop of tourism – vaccines to the United States.
In November the company plans to resume regular operations to Asunción Airport, with three weekly flights on Boeing 767-300(ER) aircraft.
The start-up of the Boeing 777-200(ER) was scheduled for the route to Quito from Miami and New York. Same as the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ecuadorian city suffered the permanent cessation, when it had planned to start in September.
Other cities suspended include Georgetown, Los Cabos, Port Au Prince and Santo Domingo, in addition to Buenos Aires, although the Argentine capital never started.
Regarding new routes, Cirium, the aeronautical intelligence platform, showed a tentative schedule for Eastern between Miami and Santa Cruz de la Sierra starting on November 14. For the time being, the company did not make any statement through its website or social networks.
