Eastern Airlines cancels flights to Belo Horizonte

Eastern Airlines confirmed this Monday, October 11th, the final suspension of its flights to Belo Horizonte, which never started. The North American carrier was scheduled to start operations to the Brazilian city next November from Miami and New York, on Boeing 767-300(ER) aircraft.

Eastern had originally planned to arrive in Belo Horizonte last March, but the COVID-19 pandemic and low demand postponed the start of operations until they were completely cancelled.

The U.S. airline will continue its flights to Guayaquil and Montevideo from New York and Miami respectively. With the current schedule, Eastern Airlines has four weekly operations taking into account the two routes. At the beginning of 2021, the company was operating between 30 and 40 flights per week.

Regarding new routes, at the time of publication, there is no official information yet. Santa Cruz de la Sierra is currently out of the reservation system, although a tentative schedule appears on the Cirium aeronautical intelligence platform starting in November.

Operations between Miami and Asunción are scheduled to resume on December 11th, according to Eastern Airlines’ website.
