Keeping its roll-out of partnerships around Italy and beyond, Italia Trasporto Aereo, the country’s government airline startup that has the mission of filling the void left by Alitalia, has announced today once another codeshare agreement: this time, with Portugal’s TAP.

This will allow both companies to better connect each other’s countries by the sale, by TAP, of the TP code in AZ-operated flights, and vice-versa.

ITA says that, while it will include the AZ code in flights operated by TAP from Lisbon to Milan, Rome and Venice, TAP will also add its TP code in flights from its hub in Rome/Fiumicino to 13 domestic cities.

“Our codeshare partnership with TAP Air Portugal begins today, signing a step forward within our commercial strategy to progressively increase agreements with the major international airlines”, has stated Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways.

She added that “for [ITA], TAP represents the gateway to Portugal, a country that is marvelous and full of opportunities for our business traffic and for leisure travel. I’m sure that thanks to this partnership we will provide to our passengers an added value in [their] choice of destinations to reach”.

The agreement starts having effect today, with the new codeshared flights already for sale by both airlines.
