Maersk, the Danish maritime and land logistics company, has ordered two new Boeing 777 freighters for its Star Air division. The announcement was made jointly between Boeing and AP Moller – Maersk and both units will be operated by Star Air, Maersk’s airline, which currently only flies the 767 models.

“As a global container logistics integrator, Maersk is enhancing its ability to provide end-to-end logistics capabilities for our customers. This year, we have strengthened our offering through e-commerce logistics acquisitions, investments in technology, expansion of our warehouses and, as a natural next step, we are now increasing our airfreight capacity, creating a wider network to even better meet customer needs”, explained Vincent Clerc, executive Vice President, AP Moller – Maersk.

The Boeing 777F is the world’s longest-range, highest-capacity twin-engine freighter in the world today. It has a range of 9,200 km and is capable of carrying a maximum useful load of 102,000 kgs, allowing Star Air to make fewer stops on long-haul routes.

According to data provided by our partner Aeroin, the 777F is the American manufacturer’s best-selling freighter of all time. Customers around the world have ordered more than 300 units since the program began in 2005.

Maersk is an integrated logistics company that works to connect and simplify supply chains. The company operates in 130 countries and has a roster of around 80,000 employees.
