In the coming days, Brazil will once again receive the visit of an exotic and classic Antonov AN-12 cargo aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian Air Alliance.

The unit will bring equipment for the drilling of oil wells off the coast of Espírito Santo, a state in southeastern Brazil. The date of the flight has not yet been informed, nor is the importer of the machinery publicly known.

Although the destination was not disclosed, it is likely that the aircraft will arrive in Vitória, Rio de Janeiro or Cabo Frio, given the proximity to the main off-shore platforms of the Brazilian country and the structures of these air terminals.

The Antonov AN-12, on the other hand, dates back to the Soviet era and is equipped with four Ivchenko AI-20M turboprop engines, which generate a distinctive noise that can be recognized from miles away.

Capable of carrying up to 20 tons, this aircraft model is mainly operated by Eastern European and CIS countries and was able to serve as a «wild card», flying all over the world, as is the tradition of the robust Antonovs.

Here are some characteristics of the unit provided by our partner Aeroin:

Crew: 5 persons.
Capacity: 20 tons of cargo.
Length: 33.1 meters.
Wingspan: 38 meters.
Height: 10.53 meters.
Cruising speed: 670 km/h (361 knots, 415 mph).
Maximum flight altitude: 10,200 meters (33,500 feet).
Maximum take-off weight: 61,000 kg (61,000 kg).
Engines: 4 × Progress AI-20L or AI-20M turboprops, 4,000 hp each.
