Peru to require booster dose for passengers over 50 years of age on domestic flights

The Peruvian government, through Supreme Decree 005-2022 published yesterday in the official gazette, established that as of January 23rd, passengers over 12 years of age will be able to board domestic flights with proof of having completed the corresponding vaccination schedule, either in Peru or abroad.

Furthermore, the measure goes even beyond and will require passengers over 50 years of age to prove that they have received the booster dose.

Those passengers who do not comply with these requirements must undergo a PCR test within 48 hours prior to boarding and present the negative result certification at the counter.

It is also established that the verification of the physical or virtual card proving compliance with the vaccination schedule and the booster dose in Peru or abroad must be carried out together with an official identity document.

This new measure is part of a number of restrictions announced by the government to contain the third wave of COVID-19 infections, which also brought to 43 the number of provinces under High Alert, establishing gauges to events, curfew between 0:00 and 4:00, and the temporary closure of land borders.
