In the framework of the presentation of its new connections in Barranquilla (BAQ), Easyfly reveals that it will add new aircraft to continue opening new routes. In addition, it aims to recover the volume of passengers transported before the pandemic before the end of 2022.
Easyfly has made Barranquilla (BAQ) its main hub in the Colombian Caribbean, connecting from there to Bucaramanga (BGA), Montería (MTR), and Valledupar (VUP). Two new destinations will follow Pereira (PEI) and Cúcuta (CUC), as revealed by the company’s CEO, Alfonso Avila.
He also stated that Barranquilla is experiencing sustained growth in its labor supply and in the creation of new companies, which predicts that the city will need to increase its connectivity to meet future demand.
In turn, the airline plans to debut international destinations in the short term. Aruba, Curaçao, and Panama are the countries in the sights, although without revealing the Colombian city from which they would connect.
Another highlight is that it has 57 routes in 31 cities, with a fleet of five ATR 72-600, eleven ATR 42-600, and one ATR 42-500. The company will receive two ATR 42s in March and four more in April.
Easyfly continues to grow and recover passengers with the aim of reaching pre-pandemic levels by 2023.
In 2021 it transported 1,424,032 passengers on 37mil flights, representing a 71.16% recovery compared to 2019. In that year it moved 2,000,917 travelers, according to data obtained by Aerocivil. Avila confirmed that they have doubled the company’s revenues with positive results. They went from 110,000 million to 217,000 million Colombian pesos, reversing the negative results suffered during the first half of last year.
Easyfly’s most important bases
The company is currently present in 85% of Colombia’s departments. Amazonas, Boyacá, La Guajira, Vaupes and Vichada will be added to the network in the future.
Its main base is Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport, located within the urban perimeter of Medellín. In 2021 it was the airport’s main carrier by moving 305,228 passengers. From them 532,652 were transported to 20 destinations (Apartado, Arauca, Armenia, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cúcuta, Corozal, El Yopal, Florencia, Ibagué, Mompox, Montería, Manizales, Neiva, Pereira, Popayán, Pasto, Quibdó, Valledupar and Villavicencio).

Its second airport is El Dorado International Airport, in Bogota, which moves 256,104 travelers to: Arauca, Barrancabermeja, El Yopal, Florencia, Florencia, Manizales, Neiva, Quibdó, Pereira, Puerto Inírida, Puerto Asís, Popayán and San José del Guaviare.
Cali closes the podium with 93,408 passengers transported, with flights to Guapi, Ibagué, Medellín/Rionegro, Medellín/Olaya Herrera, Neiva, Quibdó, Pasto, Puerto Asís, Tumaco and Villavicencio.
The airline expects to close 2022 with 2.4 billion passengers, 2% above 2019 levels, and they remain on track to become the largest regional airline in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“We will continue to focus on strengthening Colombia’s regions by opening new routes and increasing frequencies, offering travelers safe and efficient transportation,” stated Avila.
