- Panama – Frankfurt Flight LH4395 PTY 19:05 – FRA 13:35+1
The last operation of the German group in Panama – Tocumen (PTY) was in March 2020 by Lufthansa with an operation of 6 weekly flights on Airbus A340-300.
This achievement comes thanks to the negotiations by the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) in conjunction with the International Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTTUR). The common objective is to consolidate Panama as a more competitive destination and more recognized worldwide. The authorities project the arrival of 1.8 million tourists by 2022 in the Central American country.
In 2019, Panama received more than 39,000 German tourists, which represented an injection of more than USD 100 million to the country; USD 2,863 per visitor according to statistics from the Comptroller General of the Republic.
Eurowings Discover currently offers several vacation destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean. These include Cancun (CUN), Punta Cana (PUJ), Puerto Plata (POP), and Montego Bay (MBJ). The airline’s arrival in Panama represents a positive impact on the recovery of the tourism sector in the Central American country.
Panama Tocumen (PTY) for the summer season will have the connection of four European routes to Madrid (MAD) by Iberia and Air Europa, Paris (CDG) by Air France (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS) by KLM, and again Frankfurt by Eurowings Discover.
