LATAM is about to resume operations across the Pacific Ocean facilitating connections between the Americas and Oceania.
Flights departing from Santiago de Chile to Auckland, Melbourne, and Sydney offered the fastest connection to Oceania for passengers departing from Brazil. And also and for many passengers living in Australia and New Zealand, the easiest way to return to their country of origin.
With the reopening of tourism in Australia, the route is once again viable and already has a return date: March 29. These data were revealed by LATAM’s director for Oceania, Christopher Ellis, in a note with the New Zealand portal Stuff.
According to what was reported by our Brazilian partner site Aeroin, the LATAM route will be Santiago – Auckland – Sydney – Santiago, always operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Initially, there will be 3 frequencies per week. They are expected to increase to 5 in July when New Zealand finishes lifting all current travel restrictions.
Passengers whose final destination is Australia, but who are restricted to transit in New Zealand, will have to wait until July to be able to use this route. On the other hand, Qantas, LATAM’s strongest competitor in the Oceania connection, still has no forecast of when it will fly to Chile again.
