Wamos Air has submitted an application to the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) to operate non-scheduled flights to Brazil. According to sources close to the airline quoted by our partner media in that country, Aeroin, the approval process is underway with the Brazilian regulatory agency.
After approval, the company will be able to apply for flight schedules and destinations. This is not the first time Wamos has operated to Brazil. On previous occasions, the carrier has flown repatriation flights during the pandemic, had its aircraft temporarily loaned by TAP, which used them for flights to Brazil, in addition to other traditional tourist charter flights.
Wamos is an airline focused on long-haul flights, with an air capacity of more than 3,000,000 seats per year, thanks to a fleet of six Airbus A330-200s and three Airbus A330-300s. Its business model is based on three fundamental elements:
- Regular flights – currently operates to several destinations in the Caribbean, such as Cancun, Punta Cana and Varadero, combining regular tickets with tour operator tickets provided by Wamos Tours.
- Charter operations – Wamos Air has been serving passengers of different airlines for more than 17 years, flying to cities in both Europe and the Caribbean.
- Wet Lease operations – An important part of the activity is focused on flights operated for other airlines in Wet Lease mode.
