A spectacular start to the summer! Orlando International Airport receives new aircraft, new destinations and the return of the Queen of the Skies

With the start of the summer season, Orlando International Airport (MCO) welcomes back an iconic aircraft, receives more capacity from the United Kingdom and a South American airline consolidates its operations.

The return of the Queen of the Skies to MCO

With the start of the boreal summer, Lufthansa returns to operate the 371-passenger Boeing 747-400 in three classes replacing the Airbus A330/A340 operation, the last operation of this aircraft by the German carrier was in March 2020, the schedule is as follows:

  • Frankfurt – Orlando Flight LH464 FRA 13:55 – MCO 17:55 daily flights.
  • Orlando – Frankfurt Flight LH465 MCO 20:05 – FRA 11:05+1 flights per day

Lufthansa will be the only airline to offer scheduled Boeing 747 passenger flights at Orlando (MCO).

New aircraft from the United Kingdom

For this summer Orlando International Airport (MCO) will have three daily flights from London Heathrow (LHR) all operated on the modern Airbus A350-1000 by British Airways offering its new cabins and Virgin Atlantic operating the new high-density cabin design with 397 seats in three classes and the new “The Booth” bar.

New service to Scotland

Virgin Atlantic will bring new seasonal service to Orlando (MCO) from Edinburgh with twice weekly flights operated on Airbus A330-300s, during the summer the British airline will offer three UK destinations to Florida’s main airport.

Avianca consolidates its operations

Avianca, one of the largest airlines in Latin America brings a new service from Medellin (MDE) to Orlando (MCO), the company’s third destination in the United States from Jose Maria Cordova Airport (MDE), the schedule is as follows:

  • Medellin – Orlando Flight AV202 MDE 13:10 – MCO 17:55
  • Orlando – Medellin Flight AV203 MCO 19:20 – MDE 22:00

The company will offer three flights a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays operated by Airbus A320 with a capacity of 150 seats.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Cirium platform, Avianca will offer 4,164 seats per week in 26 air operations during the summer season. In addition, the Colombian airline will maintain year-round service to Cali (CLO) three times per week and will continue to operate daily flights from Bogota (BOG), all of which are operated on Airbus A320s.
