Correos Cargo

Correos Cargo used its Airbus A330 “Milana Bonita” aircraft, which is part of Correos Cargo, to transport more than 40 tons of humanitarian aid to Rzeszów-Jasionka airport in southeastern Poland, 90 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

The aid sent is material for World Central Kitchen, José Andrés’ NGO, to prepare meals for Ukrainians fleeing the conflict. This material that will be transported will be large-format food preparation equipment. This includes an industrial kitchen, isothermal equipment for keeping food warm, logistical material for setting up field kitchens and kitchen utensils.

The aircraft is part of Correos Cargo, the new air freight and parcel service created to strengthen and become a reference for the Latin America-Europe-Asia logistics axis. It was created to the increase in parcels due to the boom in e-commerce.

This project is being carried out in conjunction with Iberojet, Ávoris’ airline, which has assigned an Airbus A330-300 registered EC-LXA. It is initially scheduled to connect the Madrid – Hong Kong – Madrid route.

The link between Correos and the NGO

Correos and José Andrés’ NGO have been collaborating since 2020. In the hardest moments of the pandemic, the company’s volunteer staff delivered hundreds of menus to the health workers who were working in hospitals and medicalized hotels.

In December last year, they worked together to help the island of La Palma in its economic reactivation. Through this initiative, producers from La Palma put their products on sale through Correos Market. This one will deliver them to any point in Spain and Portugal, promoting the island’s cuisine and products.

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is the first organization to respond to emergencies. They provide food during humanitarian, climate and community crises while increasing the resilience of food systems hand in hand with the communities in which it works. WCK has served more than 60 million fresh meals to people affected by natural disasters and other crises worldwide.
