Top Gun: Maverick

In anticipation of the May 27 premiere, Paramount Pictures has released a new theatrical trailer of “Top Gun: Maverick”. The premiere date was postponed several times due to the pandemic, but since conditions were improving it is highly unlikely for that date to be changed again.

Initially set to be released in the boreal summer of 2019, “Top Gun: Maverick” tells the story of Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) returning to Top Gun to train a group of graduates for a special mission.

One of his trainees is Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the son of Maverick’s former wingman Goose (Anthony Edwards).

The long-awaited sequel to the 1986 film will feature the Boeing F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet, as the beloved Grumman F-14 Tomcat has been retired from active duty in 2006, after 32 years. But it is early to tell that the Tomcat won’t amaze us one last time in the movie.

No MiG-28 this time

Also, some of the footage indicates that there will be additional iconic aircraft portrayed in the film: both Sukhoi Su-57 Felon and Aurora images were added into the trailers to assure fans that there will be state-of-the-art equipment (and enemies).

After an extended wait, Top Gun: Maverick is ready to take off. Here we are, waiting in line, popcorn in hand.
