U.S. approves sale of 8 Lockheed Martin MH-60R Seahawks to Spain

Through document 22-09, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) informed that the U.S. State Department authorized the possible sale of 8 Sikorsky MH-60R naval helicopters to Spain.

According to the statement issued by DSCA the package offered to Spain includes:

Twenty (20) T-700-GE-401C engines (16 installed, 4 spare).
Thirty-two (32) AGM-114R(N) Hellfire missiles
Two (2) Hellfire II Captive Air Training Missiles (CATM)
One Hundred (100) WGU-59/B Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) II Guidance Sections
Eight (8) Link 16 Multi-functional Information Distribution Joint Tactical Radio Systems (MIDS JTRS) (8 installed)
Four (4) Airborne Low Frequency Sonar (ALFS) (4 installed on 4 helicopters)
M514 cartridge driven impulse devices,
MJ20 cartridge-operated impulse devices
WB53 extinguisher cartridges

The total estimated cost of the program would be up to $950 million. The prime contractor will be Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems. No industrial offset arrangements were determined in connection with this potential sale.

According to DSCA, “The MH-60R multi-mission helicopter will provide the capability to perform anti-surface warfare and anti-submarine warfare missions, along with the ability to perform secondary missions such as vertical refueling, search and rescue, and communications relay and will strengthen the Spanish Navy’s ability to support NATO and remain interoperable with the United States and the NATO alliance.”
