Dublin-based ASL Aviation Holdings (ASL) announced Monday (4) in conjunction with Boeing an order for up to 20 additional Boeing 737-800 Converted Freighters (BCF). The agreement is for 10 firm orders, with the other 10 for purchase rights.
«This new order is an important element of our fleet renewal program and we are delighted to expand our partnership with Boeing on the 737-800BCF,» said Dave Andrew, chief executive officer of ASL Aviation Holdings.
This is ASL’s second order for the 737-800BCF. The first was agreed upon during the 2019 Paris Air Show, which included 10 firm orders and 10 options.
«The 737-800BCF offers greater reliability and performance, and its lower fuel consumption reduces our environmental footprint. This is very important to ASL as an aviation group committed to environmental sustainability in aviation,» concludes Dave Andrew.
According to the Ch-Aviation aviation intelligence platform, the company has 22 Boeing 737-800s (BCFs) operating at its subsidiaries in Ireland, France, Belgium, and Thailand. In addition, the company also has 46 Boeing 737-400(F) and one Boeing 737-300.

The 737-800BCF carries up to 23.9 tons (52 800 lb) and offers a longer range compared to the 737 Classic freighters: 2025 nautical miles (3750 km).
The aircraft will be converted by Boeing at approved MRO sites, including STAECO in Jinan, China, and at Boeing’s London/Gatwick MRO facility in the United Kingdom.
