More than 850,000 travelers will fly on the more than 6,500 flights that Avianca will operate during the Easter Week season, allowing its customers to connect on 128 routes to more than sixty-five destinations in the Americas and Europe.
Avianca also stressed that «continued cooperation between authorities, airlines and concessionaires is essential» for smooth passenger traffic, listing these points:
- Migratory Process in Colombia: coordinated work between Migración Colombia, Aeronáutica Civil, and the airline operators will continue to be fundamental for a successful season. An increase of thirty immigration officials notified for El Dorado, as well as the arrival of visitors 3 hours in advance to the migration modules are factors that will facilitate and accelerate the progress of the activity.
- Operational and meteorological challenges at El Dorado: Having a reliable weather forecast will allow for proper planning of operations and forecasting of more complex weather conditions. Also, activating assistance systems such as El Dorado’s ILS category III and other operational alternatives will help manage the impact of potential capacity reductions due to poor regulatory weather or low visibility.
- Disruptive Passenger Control and Management: Knowing that the number of passenger disturbances has doubled in recent years, co-responsibility among flying travelers, authorities, airlines, and airport operators would be critical to avoid severe damage to operations and other customers in case of misconduct.
The company has also published these recommendations for its passengers:
- Arrive at the airport 3 hours in advance for domestic and international flights.
- Consult with the authorities of their country of destination about entry requirements, as well as their vaccination card and/or PCR test when entering Colombia if necessary.
- Complete the Check Mig form in advance when leaving or entering Colombia.
- Use the automated Bio Mig to complete the migration process in only 20 seconds. If you are not already registered in the Bio Mig, you can ask your immigration agent to register for future trips.
- For your safety, pack items such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, portable external chargers (Power Banks) and anything containing lithium batteries in your carry-on luggage.
«Easter is one of the high seasons when more customers want to fly and therefore, it is essential the co-responsibility of all: airlines complying with the regulations and their itineraries; aeronautical and immigration authorities with everything ready for each process to be agile; and also, the customers consulting travel requirements in time, comparing in advance and arriving in advance to the airports. This is how we can achieve a successful season,» said Frederico Pedreira, Avianca’s Chief Operating Officer.
